Catching ZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzz’s
We KNOW how important it is
to catch those precious zzzzz’s. But sometimes our sleep routine can get turned upside down and we find ourselves unable to get the rest our body craves. ⠀
There are a number of reasons why sleep is negatively impacted. One of the more common contributors to lack of sleep is stress. ⠀
Stress can keep our mind racing at night and make us feel more awake than an entire pot of coffee ☕️ Stress can trigger the release of stress hormones that end up creating more stress inside the body, thus impacting sleep the next night.. and the next night ... and so on. ⠀
😴😴⠀
It’s not an easy task to try and reset sleep habits, but this post outlines a few simple ways to start building a better sleep hygiene routine. ⠀
If you find your mind races before bed - keep a pen and paper next to your bed and write down some of the worries or thoughts that won’t seem to leave you alone. Maybe it’s a list of things to do tomorrow, or something that’s bothering you. Either way, write it down and try and get the thoughts down on paper. They are much easier to process when they are written down. ⠀
After 20 minutes, if you still can’t sleep, get out of bed and read a book, or journal or something else that is not mentally stimulating. ⠀
These are just a few simple ways to build a better sleep routine. Remember - your body is designed to sleep. ⠀
