Registered Master Social Worker
Hi! I am Alana! I aim to provide a warm and inviting place for you to explore and navigate life’s challenges and learn some new coping strategies along the way. I am passionate about supporting people through trauma processing, by using Accelerated Resolution Therapy, and Prolonged Exposure. I am a late-diagnosed ADHD adult and love helping others with ways to manage this and strengthen executive functioning behaviours and normalize the experience. I love working with new moms/parents that might be navigating a busy season in life – I have two young kids, who keep me busy! I’m also sensitive to the working professional and first responder world, and understand the unique intersection between burnout, compassion fatigue, trauma and moral injury has our on day-to-day.
I am certified in the Grief Recovery Method and love sharing space to help you heal the pain associated with the more that 40 types of grief and loss we experience throughout our lives.
I lean on an eclectic, biopsychosocial approach to therapy where we collaborate to figure out the best plan going forward – with you always in charge as the expert in your own life. I do use a variety of modalities that inform my practice including CBT, DBT, ACT, etc.
I value authenticity and show up to the therapy space as my genuine self and hope you will feel empowered to do the same. I look forward to meeting you!
I have two young children, chickens and rabbits and a dog (I live on an acreage!). I’m a big fan of true crime, nerdy podcasts (check out Ologies!), reading and swing dancing.
